A custom set of five medium-bandwidth filters in the wavelength range of 1-1.8µm was fabricated for the NEWFIRM camera on Mayall for the NEWFIRM Medium-Band Survey (NMBS). The J₁ band is similar to the Y band, the canonical J band is split into two filters, J₂ and J₃, and the H band is split into two filters, H₁ and H₂ (see the top panel in _640x690 http://iopscience.iop.org/0004-637X/735/2/86/fulltext/apj393402f1.html Figure 1 of the paper).
