This is a continuation of a previous accepted programme.
The mid- to far-infrared region contains a wealth of diagnostic spectral
features but is basically unexploited in the study of asteroid surface
composition. We proposed to study the composition of primitive
asteroids by obtaining low resolution spectra in the range 2-45 microns.
The observations will yield insights into the composition, mineralogy,
physical nature and distribution of solid materials on the surface of
asteroids. With these observations, we wish to investigate dark,
volatile-rich asteroids and their relation to comets, believed to be among
primitive object of the solar system.
The observations of these three asteroids (eliminated from the previous
programme due to decrease of the sensibility of SWS) will complete and
improve our investigation on these primitive objects.
