We wish to observe the atomic silicon fine structure lines of atomic silicon at 129.7 and 68.5 microns towards Orion-KL. These transitions have not previously been detected in the interstellar medium and are of considerable importance for the determination of the fraction of silicon depleted into interstellar grains in molecular clouds.
