We propose to survey in the [OI] line seven high redshift IRAS sources
selected so their redshift places the [OI] line in the most sensitive
part of the LWS range, namely 100<lambda<180, translating to 0.58<z<1.5.
While most of these sources are classified as quasars, their infrared
emission suggests a substantial interstellar medium, which we could
partially characterize using the [OI] fine structure line. We estimate
the [OI] line should be detectable typically in one hour of integration
if its relative intensity is comparable to starbursts values. In all
cases, we expect to place interesting upper limits on the warm and dense
photo-dissociated ISM in these objects.
